I woke at 5:00 a.m. ready to go. Packed, took off, stopped to get gas and lunch for today and rode off towards Yosemite. As I made the turn to the park, it immediately started showing why there are so many people here from all over the world, the canyon was breathtaking. I’m not even to the “dramatic” part and I’m already so darned happy...
There really are people from all over the world here. So many different languages spoken. This is the first place I’ve travelled that this is the case. But, what’s comforting already about Yosemite is it reminds me of Oregon. Everyone looks the same, stocking caps, fleece, hiking boots, hiking poles, a little disheveled. ....I like it.
I rode to Tuolumne Meadows to make camp, made it here a little before 8:00 a.m. Getting a campground was no problem. I am gonna do some hiking in the meadow today and take some pics.
It’s cold on this side of the Mountains in the morning, I had on my fleece and my leather jacket and was still cold riding. The past couple of nights have been really cold too, I woke cold. Tonight I’m at 9000 elevation again so I made some changes to my sleeping arrangements.
Here’s what I did:
I put on the rain fly.
I’ll sleep with the windows closed. :(
I put my rain gear and emergency blanket on the tent floor below my air mattress.
I stuffed my backpack, jacket and extra clothes at each end of the mattress.
I put my fleece blanket inside my sleeping bag
Tonight, I sleep with my riding pants on and an extra pair of socks.
Seriously, I’ve been cold! I have high hopes of sleeping cozy.
At this very moment camp is set up, I'm sitting having a cup of coffee, eating lunch for breakfast (ham sandwich sounded better than granola bar). And I have a great feeling of peace. It’s going to be a day that suits me well.
